THE PINK BATHTUB PROJECT [2023]

/ a collaborative dance film /

Created with Katie Cook and filmed in her bathroom, this film was ideated from reflections on femininity that is prescribed versus femininity that is natural, and the mixture of the two that we carry within ourselves as femmes.

The Taste of Water (Part 2) [2021]

/ a staged development of our dance film “The Taste of Water” /

Using the foundation of our film "The Taste of Water” (see below), we added a new dancer into the mix for this staged version of the duet, which built upon the themes of processing grief with a deeper focus on collective processing and attunement to each other’s needs for support. This was an improv-influenced process and performance which explored Teagan and Isabelle’s natural inclinations in leading, supporting, and asking for movement in each other.

I’ll Take It From Here [2021]

/ a short film fully produced in one hour /

Produced by Project Bound Dance, the “One Hour Project” pairs a choreographer with a cinematographer/editor and a dancer from the company. One hour for collaboration is alloted to fully create and shoot a one minute film. I chose a bar for the setting of the film to explore a female-coded dancer taking space and ownership of a pool table, in a nod to misogynistic pool scenes in film.

The Taste of Water [2021]

a choreographic project presented as a short film /

Created post-vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic, this process explored the processing of grief and the loss of hope in the wake of massive world change. This process took place almost entirely outdoors, and the scope, wonder, and peace of the natural world plays a role in our understanding of our ability to be present and adaptable. This work examines the way we often heal individually and personally, before we can process vulnerably in community and heal collectively.

danced by Isabelle Taylor and Lydia Jekot

presented through “Virtual Dance Chance,” in July 2021, hosted by DanceWorks Chicago and moderated by Alice Svetic

bottomless mimosas [2021]

/ a quarantine dance journal /

Written and filmed as a solo project in 2020 quarantine, this collection of videos documents personal thought processes about art-making and being seen during the pandemic - through art-making, with some irony.
